Our Vision Statement:
- The vision of Missisauga Family Baptist Church is to be a growing church both in breadth and depth.
- We are committed not only to numerical growth but also to spiritual growth, both personal and corporate.
- We will seek to encourage every believer to exercise his God-given gifts.
- We desire to grow by evangelizing and discipling our Filipino community and our diverse neighbourhoods in relevant ways.
- We believe that as we grow larger, we must also remain small and personal, by establishing caring communities within our church.
Section 1. OF THE SCRIPTURES
- We believe in the Plenary Verbal Inspiration of the Bible; that its original manuscripts were written by men divinely inspired by God; and that therefore it is the infallible and immutable Word of God and the perfect and sole standard for faith, doctrine and practice. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 2 Peter 1:16-21.)
Section 2. OF THE TRUE GOD
- We believe that there is only one living and true God, the Supreme, Infinite, Perfect Spirit, in whom all things have their Source, Support and End; that in the unity of the Godhead there are Three Persons: the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit; that these Three Persons are equal and executing distinct but harmonious offices in the great work of redemption. (Deut 6:4; Exodus 20:2-3; Isaiah 48:16-17.1 Corinthians 8:6; Revelation 4:11; Matthew 28:19; John 10:30; 1 Peter 1:2; 2 Corinthians. 13:14)
Section 3. OF JESUS CHRIST
- We believe that Jesus Christ was begotten of the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died for our sins and was raised up for our justification; that He is True God and True Man, and is the only and sufficient mediator between God and man, through whom every soul may have direct access to God. (Isa.7:14; Matt. 1:21-23; Acts 4:12, Col.1:15-19; 1 Tim. 2:5;)
Section 4. OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
- We believe in the absolute deity and personality of the Holy Spirit; that His ministry is to reveal Christ to men in the regeneration and sanctification of their souls, and in the understanding and application of Christian truth. (Jn. 16:7-15; Acts 5:3-4; I Cor. 12:13)
Section 5. OF SATAN OR THE DEVIL
- We believe in the existence and personality of Satan; that he was created perfect, but through pride rebelled against God, thus becoming utterly depraved; that he is the adversary of God and His children, and is the power behind the world's godless and deceptive activity; that his doom is settled in the lake of fire. (Job 1 & 2; Matthew 4:1-3; Mark 1:13; II Corinthians 11:14; Ephesians 2:2; I Peter 5:8-9; Revelation 20:10)
Section 6. OF MAN, SALVATION AND ETERNAL SECURITY
- We believe that man was directly created by God in holiness, but through personal disobedience became a fallen creature, thus incurring both physical and spiritual death upon the human race. Being then totally depraved, he is dependent upon the mercy of God. (Gen. 1:2; John 1:3; Col. 1:16-17; Rev. 3:14)
- We believe that man can be saved only by grace through faith in Jesus Christ, who, on the cross, once and for all shed His precious blood for the remission of sins. (Eph. 2:8; Acts 15:11; Romans 3:24-25; John 3:16)
- We believe that once a man is truly saved he cannot lose his salvation for he is eternally secure in the Lord Jesus Christ. (Jn. 10:27-28, Rom. 3:23; Rom. 5:1-19; Rom. 8:38-39; Eph. 2:8-9; Eph. 4:18; Tit. 3:5-6;; II Tim. 1:12).
Section 7. OF BAPTISM AND THE LORD'S SUPPER
- We believe in the two ordinances of Christ for the Church, namely: believer's baptism by immersion in water and the Lord's Supper. Baptism does not save, but is an act of obedience to the command of Christ and a testimony to the world of our faith in the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is a prerequisite to Church membership and the enjoyment of its privileges and responsibilities. We believe that the Lord's Supper is the believer's commemoration of His death until He comes. The observation of the Lord's Supper should always be preceded by self-examination. (Matt. 28:19-20; Rom. 6:1-15; 1 Cor. 11:23-30).
Section 8. OF CHRISTIAN LIVING AND STEWARDSHIP
- We believe that, as Christians, we are called to live a life of holiness by the help of the Holy Spirit.
- We believe that an expression of our commitment to God and the Church includes stewardship of our time, talents and finances, and that the systematic and proportionate giving of money for the support of the Church and its ministries is biblically mandated. (Malachi 3:10-12; Rom. 12:1-2 I Cor 10:31, II Cor. 8:9; I Peter 1:16;.)
Section 9. OF CHRIST'S SECOND COMING AND OF JUDGEMENT
- We believe and expectantly look forward to the imminent personal, visible and glorious return of the Lord Jesus Christ from heaven. We believe in the resurrection of both the just and the unjust and their final judgment: the just to eternal happiness in heaven and the unjust to eternal suffering in hell. (Matt. 25:46; Jn. 14:1-3; Acts 1:11,I Thess. 4:16-17, Rev.20:5-13).
Section 10. OF LOCAL CHURCH AUTONOMY AND FELLOWSHIP
- We believe that the local church is a congregation of baptized believers associated by covenant in the faith and fellowship of the Gospel, observing the ordinances of Christ, governed by the Scriptures in matters of faith, practice and doctrine and exercising the rights, privileges and responsibilities invested in them by His Word.
- We likewise believe in the independence and self-governance of local churches and of their right to decide to associate with other churches, groups and associations for fellowship and the furtherance of God's purposes on earth. (I Cor. 12:12-14; II Cor. 11:2, Eph.1:22-23; 5:25-27;)
